Designed for group observation, both outdoors and in the classroom

With a lab microscope, students take turns, each with their eye pressed against the eyepiece. Here, the image appears on the screen, and the whole group discusses it.

1
The whole group sees the same thingThe image appears on the built-in screen. Three or four students look at it together, compare their observations, and ask each other questions.
2
Get Started in a MinuteOne button to turn it on, a dial to focus, and a button to take a picture. Even in kindergarten, students can use it on their own.
3
On the board, liveConnected via USB-C to the projector’s computer, it displays the live observation: the entire class can follow along using a single microscope. The photos are then transferred using a micro-SD card.
4
Made for the OutdoorsReinforced case, wrist strap, about 3 hours of continuous use. Take it out to the playground, the park, or for outdoor class.

Three workouts you can do as soon as your order arrives

They are detailed in the teacher's guide, along with the instructions to be read to the students. The time estimates are approximate.

Life in the Courtyard

  1. In groups of 3 or 4, each group draws a mission card (leaf, bark, moss, etc.).
  2. In the courtyard, the group searches for, observes, and photographs three finds.
  3. Back in class: Each group shows its most surprising photo and explains what it sees.

Objective: to observe, describe, and compare living organisms.

Guess what this is

  1. Take close-up photos of 5 objects from the classroom in advance: salt, sugar, fabric, paper, and a strand of hair.
  2. The students guess what is shown on the screen, then check for themselves using the microscope.
  3. We classify things: what comes from nature, and what is manufactured.

Objective: To improve observation skills and vocabulary.

Little Creatures

  1. Observe an ant, a ladybug, or a woodlouse without touching it, then let it go.
  2. Each student draws what they saw in their notebook: legs, antennae, colors.
  3. We compare the drawing to the photo taken under a microscope.

Objective: to observe without damaging the subject, to draw from life.

What Teachers Have to Say

The first classroom sessions yielded these two pieces of feedback, which we are reproducing here verbatim.

★★★★★

"Ongoing Science Experiment"

“I introduced the Kideo microscope during a unit on living organisms in science class. I didn’t expect such a strong reaction from the students: even the most restless ones were focused and asked relevant questions. We observed leaves, insect wings, pollen… The fact that the image appears on the built-in screen allows the whole class to see it at the same time, which is really convenient for group work. I’ve recommended it to two colleagues since then. It’s a reliable, accessible, and sturdy educational tool.”

"A must-have for any classroom"

"I love this microscope. My students figured out how to use it right away. They can't stop—they're observing everything and marveling at it all. A must-have for any classroom."

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age?

Ages 3 and up. Simply hold down the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds, point the lens at the object, and turn the dial. In preschool, students get the hang of it in a minute; in elementary and middle school, the mission cards and observation sheet allow them to take it a step further (describing, comparing, drawing).

Is it sturdy enough for classroom use?

Yes. It's designed to be used by children every day, even outdoors: it features a reinforced silicone case, a screen protector, and a wrist strap to prevent it from falling. Even when passed from hand to hand among different groups of children, it continues to perform well. And if a device has a problem, we'll replace it without asking you to send it back to us.

How many students per microscope?

We recommend one microscope for every 3 or 4 students. The image appears on the screen: the group looks at it together, and each student takes turns holding the microscope. For a class of 25 students, 7 or 8 microscopes are sufficient: the Lot Classe 10 set provides some leeway.

Do you need a computer, a tablet, or Wi-Fi?

No. The microscope works on its own: no app, no internet connection, and no need to create an account. Photos are saved to its memory and can be viewed directly on the screen.

Can we project the photos onto the board?

Yes, and even in real time. Connect the microscope to the computer using a USB-C cable, and then connect the computer to the projector or interactive whiteboard: whatever is shown on the microscope’s screen appears in real time on the whiteboard. The whole class can observe at the same time, using just one microscope. To save the photos and show them later, transfer them to the computer using a micro-SD card.

What is the battery life, and how do you recharge it?

About 3 hours of continuous use with the screen on. Under normal use, if students remember to turn off the screen between observations, it lasts more than 5 hours. It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to recharge using the included USB-C cable. The easiest option is to recharge everything the day before the session.

How do I maintain it?

A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for the screen and the lens. The microscope is not waterproof: you can observe a drop of water, but do not submerge it in water.

What language are the maps and the guide in?

In French or English—you can choose when placing your order.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment is made by credit card through a secure link sent with the quote. The quote and invoice are issued in the institution's name. We do not accept payment by bank transfer against an invoice or administrative vouchers.

What are the delivery times?

Shipping is included. For schools and bulk orders, delivery generally takes 8 to 10 business days within Europe and 10 to 15 days outside Europe. We indicate the estimated delivery date on the quote: be sure to place your order before a field trip or scheduled class period.

What kind of warranty?

The 2-year legal warranty applies. In the event of a defect, we will replace the device immediately.
